Developing the change muscle of senior leaders to lead transformation across their organisation

Tasked with bringing about a fundamental shift to becoming an ‘audience centric’ organisation in how patients and supporters are engaged in fundraising activities, progress was slow and many people simply felt that change was impossible.

With leaders unsure on how to move the organisation forward, the common reaction was to cite a lack of capacity and a slow-moving, consensus driven culture.

Shifting the fundamental mindset, and giving leaders the tools to lead change effectively extended far beyond the leadership team of the current change program – the aspiration was to develop the capacity of leaders to thrive in and effectively navigate change in a constantly changing environment across the organisation.

Working hand-in-hand with the transformation leadership team, we identified four specific pain points and designed a programme targeted at addressing them and building holistic change capabilities.

The programme

Our flagship programme consisted of four learning days, supported by a digital toolkit and personalised coaching, where participants applied practical change tools and concepts to their biggest leadership challenges:

  • Setting up for success: The fundamentals of leading change, and the characteristics they need to dial up to succeed as a change leader
  • Building a coalition: Mapping the stakeholder landscape, developing the change story, and defining a broader engagement strategy
  • Overcoming resistance: Understanding different reactions to change, and having brave conversations built on a foundation of trust
  • Driving progress: Preparing leaders to execute in uncertainty with an experimentation mindset to adapt to continuous change

Ultimately, we saw participants unlock significant personal breakthroughs, as well as become a more aligned team, breaking down silos and supporting each other to shift the culture of the organisation.
